3GSM World Congress Barcelona

The GSMA Mobile World Congress is the world’s most attended global mobile event. The main Conference and Exhibition are scheduled for February 11-14, 2008 and this is the place to be in for people related in any way to the mobile communications industry. This not only includes professionals from the mobile operator community, but also from industries that are impacted by the mobile revolution now sweeping the world. This conference is also a must-see for journalists covering the technology/telecommunications industry.

The Mobile World Congress will be held in Barcelona, Spain. Barcelona, the second-largest city in Spain, is the capital of the Autonomous Community of Catalonia. Now a major economic centre, Barcelona first came into international attention when the XXV Olympic Games were held here in 1992. Founded by the Romans in the 2nd century BC, the city started on the path to modernization in the late 19th century, when it embraced industrialization.
Barcelona, which now has a population of around 1.5 million, has two official languages, Catalan and Castilian Spanish. Located on the Mediterranean coast, the city offers breathtaking beauty, along with its rich history.

Under the influence of its more than two millennia old history, different parts of Barcelona have distinctly different appearances… ranging from a gothic look to a modern, steel and glass appearance. There are parts of Barcelona that resemble old towns with narrow, meandering streets, while other parts of the city set standards in modern city planning.

Reflecting this convergence of the old and the new, the Mobile World Congress aims at shaping the future of telecommunication and offering people the environment and opportunity to create a new world.
